Students from the seven colleges movement have announced they will continue their peaceful sit-in programme on Thursday (January 15) at three key intersections in Dhaka—Science Lab, Technical Mor in Gabtoli and Tantibazar—demanding the issuance of a final ordinance to form the proposed Dhaka Central University. The decision was taken jointly by students from Dhaka-based colleges and universities, organisers said.Bangla College student Masum Billah told reporters at around 3pm on Wednesday (January 14) at the Gabtoli Technical Mor that Thursday’s programme will begin at 11am and run until the evening. He said Wednesday’s programme had been concluded, but the students would not retreat from their core demand, describing the movement as a long-term struggle for their future and rights rather than a one-day protest. Protesting students said their objective remained clear and that they would continue their peaceful movement in unity to realise their education-related aspirations.
They also said the absence of any final announcement from the authorities had increased both anxiety and expectations among students, and urged swift, effective steps to meet their demand.
