BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi has said that democracy will continue to be upheld by following the path shown by Begum Khaleda Zia, adding that her son, Tarique Rahman, will lead the country forward by adhering to that very path.He made the remarks while speaking to journalists on Saturday (January 3) morning after visiting the grave of BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia at Sher-e-Bangla Nagar.Rizvi said that by following the ideals and moral principles left behind by Khaleda Zia, democracy can be preserved, the national flag can be upheld, and the country’s independence and sovereignty can be protected. He added that BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman, the elder son of the party chairperson, will lead the nation toward new possibilities and new horizons by following in his mother’s footsteps.

“We will move toward that horizon for which Begum Khaleda Zia fought and struggled relentlessly for nearly 45 to 46 years,” Rizvi said.

Earlier, at around 11:30 am, leaders and activists of the Jatiyatabadi Mohila Dal, led by its President Afroza Abbas, General Secretary Sultana Ahmed, and Senior General Secretary Helen Jarin Khan, visited Khaleda Zia’s grave at Sher-e-Bangla Nagar. They placed floral wreaths at the mausoleum and later took part in a prayer seeking eternal peace for her departed soul.
