Awami League Also Responsible for Begum Zia’s Death:Dudu

BNP Vice Chairman Shamshuzzaman Dudu has claimed that the Awami League also bears responsibility for the death of former Prime Minister and BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia. He said that if the people remain united, no obstacle will be able to hinder the upcoming national election.He made the remarks on Monday, 5 January, while speaking to journalists after paying tribute at the grave of Begum Khaleda Zia at Zia Udyan in the capital. The programme was organized by the Jatiyatabadi Karmojibi Dal and the Jatiyatabadi Matsyajibi Dal.

Shamshuzzaman Dudu said that Begum Khaleda Zia followed the ideals of the proclaimer of independence, Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman. “She has now left us. Our leader now is Tarique Rahman, who follows the path of Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman and Begum Khaleda Zia,” he said. He added that following Begum Zia’s ideals means upholding democracy and safeguarding independence.

He alleged that disorder and instability are being created in different parts of the country in recent times. However, he noted that the national election would be held very soon. “Therefore, everyone must remain united to ensure a free and fair election,” he said.

Responding to a question from journalists, Dudu said that the BNP Election Committee held its first meeting the previous day. He added that the party’s election manifesto, outlining plans for conducting a successful election and running the state, would be announced through the media.

The former president of Chhatra Dal said that Begum Khaleda Zia had led movements and struggles for the past 17 years to establish a fair and credible electoral system. “That path to a fair election has now been cleared. If the people of the country remain united, no obstacle will be able to stand in the way, and the country will witness its best election,” he said.

BNP Executive Committee member AB Naser Md Rahmatullah, along with leaders from various levels of the Matsyajibi Dal and Karmojibi Dal, were also present at the programme.
