A fire broke out at a jhut (garment scrap) warehouse in the Dewaliabari area under Konabari police station in Gazipur on Thursday afternoon (January 8), officials and local residents said. Locals first tried to put out the flames before alerting the Fire Service. Six units, including teams from the Konabari station and nearby fire stations, were deployed to the scene and were working to bring the blaze under control after it spread to an adjoining warehouse. Warehouse Inspector Saiful Islam of Konabari Modern Fire Service said firefighters were still battling the fire.  However, the cause of the blaze and the scale of the damage were not immediately known.
