Newly appointed United States Ambassador to Bangladesh Brent Christensen is due to arrive in Dhaka on Monday evening (January 12), diplomatic sources said.Christensen will be received at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport by officials from the US Embassy in Dhaka and representatives of Bangladesh’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, they said.He is expected to begin his mission formally later this week by presenting copies of his credentials. In the next two days, he is scheduled to meet Foreign Secretary Asad Alam Siam and Md Nural Islam, Chief of Protocol in the ministry’s Protocol Wing, as preparations are completed for the credential ceremony.

Christensen is expected to present his credentials to President Mohammed Shahabuddin on Thursday, January 15, marking the official start of his tenure.

He was sworn in at the US State Department on January 9. The State Department describes Christensen as a senior US Foreign Service officer who previously served as counsellor for political and economic affairs at the US Embassy in Dhaka from 2019 to 2021.
