Independent candidate Tasnim Jara says she wants to contest the Dhaka-9 seat under the “Football” election symbol in the upcoming 13th national parliamentary election.Speaking to reporters on Saturday, January 10, after the Election Commission restored her candidacy at an appeal hearing, Jara said her appeal had been upheld and thanked those at home and abroad who had prayed for her.She also thanked the Election Commission, saying she would now apply for the football symbol.
Her nomination papers had earlier been cancelled by the returning officer over alleged irregularities in the 1% voter endorsement signatures required for independent candidates.
The parliamentary election is scheduled for February 12.
