Sherpur DC T20 Cricket Tournament Concludes Amid Festive Atmosphere

The month-long District Commissioner (DC) T20 Cricket Tournament–2025 concluded amid great enthusiasm and excitement at the Sherpur Shaheed Muktijoddha Smriti Stadium. Organized by the Sherpur District Sports Association with support from Uttara Specialized Hospital and Boishakhi Plaza, the tournament brought a festive spirit to the district’s sports arena through its final match and prize-giving ceremony.The closing ceremony was graced by Sherpur District Commissioner Tarfadar Mahmudur Rahman as the chief guest, who handed over trophies to the winners. The event was presided over by Additional District Commissioner (General) Shakil Ahmed.In his speech, the District Commissioner emphasized the importance of sports in steering youth away from drugs and social degradation. He said, “There is no alternative to sports to keep the younger generation away from drugs and social evils. Through tournaments like this, talented cricketers will emerge from the district who can contribute at the national level in the future.”

Special guests at the event included Major Tarek Aziz, Commander of the Sherpur Temporary Army Camp; Additional Superintendent of Police Md. Mizanur Rahman Bhuiyan; District Sports Officer Dhirendra Chandra Sarkar; and Farid Ahmed Lulu, member of the Ad-hoc Committee of the Sherpur District Sports Association.

The final match was contested between Sherpur Active Club and Jhinaigati Eleven. Sherpur Active Club won the toss and opted to bat first. Jhinaigati Eleven were bowled out for 79 runs, while Sherpur Active Club successfully chased the target, losing only two wickets, to claim the championship.

Pratyay was named the Player of the Tournament, while Asif was awarded Man of the Match for his outstanding performance in the final.

The successful conclusion of the tournament was widely appreciated by players, officials, and spectators, marking another positive step toward promoting sports and nurturing young talent in Sherpur district.
