Ahead of the 13th National Parliamentary Election, the National Citizen Party (NCP) has announced its first list of 125 candidates. The party—formed by young leaders who played a key role in last year's July uprising—released the list after scrutiny at a press conference held on Wednesday morning at its temporary central office in Banglamotor, Dhaka. The announcement was made by the party’s Member Secretary, Akhter Hossen.
In almost every constituency where NCP has nominated candidates, their primary rivals will be contenders from the BNP and Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami.

NCP Member Secretary Akhter Hossen said:
“If any complaint arises against nominated candidates, the party will investigate and cancel their nomination if necessary.”
Chief Election Coordinator Nasir Uddin Patwary said:
“We aim for a ‘ballot revolution’ in this election and call on the people to vote ‘Yes’ in the referendum.”
Party Convener Nahid Islam emphasized that NCP’s goal is to field candidates in all 300 constituencies and build nationwide support for reform. He added:
“Those who have not made it to the initial list will be considered in the next phase.”
Following the 2024 July uprising, the NCP—formed by leaders of the anti-discrimination movement—is participating in a national election for the first time.
