Dr. Muhammad Yunus, the Chief Adviser, visited Evercare Hospital on Wednesday evening (3 December) to inquire about the health of BNP Chairperson and former Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia. He arrived at the hospital shortly after 7:00 PM, and BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir welcomed him at 7:07 PM. Khaleda Zia’s personal physician, Professor Dr. AZM Zahid Hossain, was also present during the visit.

Earlier in the day, at around 10:30 AM, Dr. Richard Belli, the head of a specialist medical team from the United Kingdom, arrived in Dhaka to provide support for Khaleda Zia’s treatment. Professor Dr. Zahid Hossain confirmed the visit and stated that countries including the United States, China, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, and India are contributing to her care.

Dr. Zahid emphasized that, at present, Khaleda Zia cannot be transferred abroad. The medical board will monitor her condition and decide if international treatment becomes necessary. Meanwhile, Evercare Hospital’s medical board has shared all relevant reports and recent test results with the foreign specialists to ensure coordinated treatment and the best possible medical care.

BNP media wing official Shairul Kabir Khan noted that the involvement of the foreign specialist team is expected to provide new guidance and directions for her ongoing treatment.
