Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus has extended New Year greetings to all Bangladeshis at home and abroad on the occasion of the arrival of 2026.In a message, he said the New Year heralds “new dreams, new hopes and new possibilities”.“This message of the arrival of the new year makes us excited. It generates fresh energy and inspiration to forget all sorrows and move towards a better future,” the chief adviser said.Referring to the changed national context after the July mass uprising, he said the New Year carries special significance for the country.“We hope that the journey we have started towards a democratic transition by repairing the flawed state system will be completed in the coming year by holding a national election and a referendum on the implementation of the July Charter,” Professor Yunus said.

He added that the election and referendum would “further accelerate the country’s democratic progress by resisting all plots – this is our greatest expectation in the new year”.

The chief adviser expressed hope that in a democratic Bangladesh, with love for the country, everyone would dedicate their highest efforts to the welfare of the people.

“In the new year, we will confront all challenges together and build a discrimination-free Bangladesh based on equality and justice,” he said.

“Let the bonds of harmony, friendship and brotherhood be further strengthened in the new year. May the new year bring lasting happiness, peace and prosperity to everyone’s lives,” he added.
