Salauddin Ahmed, a permanent committee member of the BNP, has submitted his nomination papers as the party’s candidate for the upcoming national parliamentary elections from Cox’s Bazar-1 (Chokoria-Pekua) constituency. He submitted the papers to Chokoria Upazila Executive Officer Shaheen Delwar at 4:00 PM on Sunday, December 28. Several BNP leaders and officials were present during the submission, including Advocate Shamim Ara Swapna, General Secretary of Cox’s Bazar District BNP; Enamul Haque, President of Chokoria Upazila BNP; Mizanur Rahman Chowdhury (Khokon Mia), Vice President of Cox’s Bazar District BNP; Jamil Ibrahim Chowdhury, President of Matamuhuri (Organizational) Upazila BNP; Bahadur Shah, President of Pekua Upazila BNP; Nurul Islam Haider, President of Chokoria Municipality BNP; M. Mobarak Ali, General Secretary of Chokoria Upazila BNP; Iqbal Hossain, General Secretary of Pekua Upazila BNP; Abdur Rahim, General Secretary of Chokoria Municipality BNP; Hefazatur Rahman Tipu, General Secretary of Matamuhuri (Organizational) Upazila BNP; along with leaders and activists from various levels of the BNP and its allied organizations.
After submitting his nomination papers, Salauddin Ahmed stated that significant development had taken place in Chokoria-Pekua during the BNP government’s tenure. He expressed confidence that voters would support him by voting for the “Dhaner Sheesh” (rice sheaf) symbol to continue this development.
Chokoria Upazila Election Officer Mahfuzul Islam noted that the total number of registered voters in Cox’s Bazar-1 (Chokoria-Pekua) is 533,094.
The Chief Election Commissioner (CEC), A. M. M. Nasir Uddin, announced the election schedule on December 11, setting February 12 as the polling date. According to the schedule, the deadline for submitting nomination papers is December 29. Election campaigning will commence on January 22 and continue until February 10 at 7:30 AM. Voting will be held on February 12 from 7:30 AM to 4:30 PM.
