Two more political parties have joined the alliance formed under the banner of the joint movement, bringing the total number of partner parties to ten. The newly added parties are the Liberal Democratic Party (LDP), led by Colonel (Retd.) Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Dr. Shafiqur Rahman formally declared the inclusion of the two parties in the alliance.Speaking at the press conference organized by the eight-party alliance, Dr. Shafiqur Rahman said that although several other political parties have expressed interest in joining the alliance, the current political reality does not allow for the inclusion of any additional parties at this time.
He also noted that while representatives from nine parties were present at the press conference, the National Citizen Party (NCP) would hold a separate press conference to formally announce its participation in the newly expanded alliance.
Dr. Shafiqur Rahman further stated that no final decision has yet been made regarding seat-sharing arrangements among the alliance partners.
Prior to the latest expansion, the eight parties already included in the alliance were Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, Islami Andolon Bangladesh, Bangladesh Khilafat Andolon, Bangladesh Khilafat Majlis, Khilafat Majlis, Nezame-e-Islam Party, Jatiya Ganatantrik Party, and Bangladesh Development Party.
The expansion of the alliance is being viewed as a significant development in opposition politics ahead of the upcoming national parliamentary election.
