Inquilab Mancha, along with various organizations and students, staged a protest and sit-in program at Shahbagh in the capital demanding justice for the killing of Shaheed Sharif Osman Hadi.As part of a previously announced road blockade program, the protesters began their sit-in at Shaheed Osman Hadi Square at around 2:00 pm on Sunday (December 28). On-the-ground observations show that shortly after 2:00 pm, leaders and activists of Inquilab Mancha, along with students and members of the public, started arriving in groups from different parts of the capital, marching with protest processions toward Shahbagh. As time passed, the gathering grew larger, turning the entire Shahbagh area into a massive crowd.

During the protest, demonstrators chanted various slogans, including “Hadi lives on in the red and green flag,” causing the Shahbagh area to reverberate with protest chants.

In response to the sit-in program, law enforcement agencies—including police and Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB)—have significantly tightened security in and around Shahbagh. The entire area has been cordoned off from all directions.

Meanwhile, all types of vehicular movement have been suspended in and around Shahbagh and Shaheed Osman Hadi Square due to the blockade.

The protest remained ongoing at the time of filing this report.
