The Janazah (funeral prayer) of Sharif Osman Hadi, spokesperson of the anti-hegemony platform Inqilab Mancha, drew an unprecedented gathering, according to worshippers present at the scene. The massive crowd, solemn atmosphere, and profound silence combined to make the Janazah a moment many described as unparalleled in Bangladesh’s history. Many attendees said they had never witnessed such a large and emotionally intense funeral prayer in their lives. The Janazah was held on Saturday (December 20) at 2:25 pm at the South Plaza of the National Parliament Building. The prayer was led by the martyr’s elder brother, Abu Bakr Siddiq. Among those present were Chief Adviser Dr. Muhammad Yunus, the Religious Affairs Adviser, Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Shafiqur Rahman, BNP leader Salahuddin Ahmed, members of the advisory council, senior leaders of various political parties, fellow activists, and people from all walks of life.

Elderly citizens, youth, students, and working-class people were seen attending in large numbers. Many participated standing, sitting, or lining up along the roads due to the overwhelming crowd.

Worshippers said the gathering was more than a funeral prayer—it was a collective expression of love, respect, and trust. Tears filled many eyes, while prayers echoed softly through the crowd, reflecting a shared sense of grief and reverence.

Sharif Osman bin Hadi, a July revolutionary figure and outspoken opponent of authoritarianism, was laid to rest amid the love and respect of millions across the country.
