In India, the historic Babri Masjid—demolished in 1992—marks its 33rd anniversary on 6 December this year. On that same day, a new Babri Mosque will be inaugurated in West Bengal, according to a declaration made by Trinamool Congress (TMC) MLA Humayun Kabir.Kabir announced that the foundation stone of the new Babri Mosque will be laid on 6 December, and the construction is expected to take about three years. He added that a large gathering is anticipated on the day of the foundation-laying ceremony.“Many people will be present at the event. Around 400 well-known personalities will join us on stage. Prominent leaders from across the country will also attend. We will invite people from all communities,” said Humayun Kabir.

Following his announcement, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) issued sharp criticism.
Union Minister of State for Education Sukanta Majumdar responded, saying:

“People like Humayun Kabir are being supported by individuals like Mamata Banerjee. They work to intimidate people of other religions. West Bengal currently enjoys an atmosphere of peace, and efforts are being made to destroy that peace.”

The political confrontation has intensified as the symbolic date approaches, with both parties exchanging strong statements over the proposed construction of the new mosque in the state.
