Jaima Rahman Speaks at BNP Expatriate Virtual Meeting

 Jaima Rahman has addressed a virtual meeting of BNP leaders and activists living abroad. The meeting, held on Sunday (24 November), was also joined virtually from Bangladesh by the party chairperson’s advisory council member Barrister Mahbub Uddin Khokon, Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi, and Media Cell Convener Maudud Hossain Alamgir Pavel.Jaima Rahman is the daughter of BNP’s Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman. In a 39-second video clip from the meeting, which has since circulated widely on social media, she thanked the participants and said:

“Thank you, everyone. Thank you for joining, for all the effort you have put in, and for sharing your thoughts, challenges, and ideas. We discussed several issues. Rizvi uncle and Pavel uncle have taken notes. We will see centrally what we can do. The work must move forward, and communication among everyone is important. We should help each other as much as possible. Khokon uncle has clearly explained how things should be done according to time. We should not delay. We should prioritize the tasks according to the schedule. Thank you so much.”

The meeting focused on expatriate voting activities and included representatives from various European countries.

BNP Media Cell member Atikur Rahman Rummon said,
“Barrister Jaima Rahman joined a virtual meeting on Sunday and delivered a speech. A video clip of it has gone viral on social media.”

Although she is not formally involved in politics, this is the first time Jaima Rahman has appeared in a party meeting related to expatriate voter registration and organizational matters.

Earlier this year, she represented the party at the National Prayer Breakfast held on 5–6 February in Washington, D.C. The delegation was led by BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir and also included Standing Committee Member Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury.

In a recent interview with the BBC, Tarique Rahman was asked about the role of his family in BNP’s future leadership and whether Dr. Zubaida Rahman or Barrister Jaima Rahman might enter politics. He replied,
“Time and circumstances will determine that.”

After moving to London with her parents in 2008, Jaima Rahman completed her school, college, and higher education there. She obtained her Bar-at-Law qualification from Lincoln’s Inn and earned her undergraduate law degree from Queen Mary University of London.
