The Election Commission has announced that the boundaries of 39 out of 300 parliamentary constituencies will be revised ahead of the upcoming national elections.  Election Commissioner Md Anwarul Islam Sarkar confirmed the changes on Tuesday, saying that a specialised delimitation committee formed by the EC has completed its work and submitted the final report.  “The committee has finalized the boundary adjustments based on population distribution, administrative divisions, and other constitutional criteria. The changes affect 39 constituencies across the country,” said Commissioner Sarkar.  As part of the revision Gazipur will gain one seat, increasing from 5 to 6 constituencies and Bagerhat will lose one seat, decreasing from 4 to 3.  The adjustments reflect demographic shifts and aim to ensure balanced representation in line with the latest census data.  The EC emphasised that the delimitation process was conducted transparently and impartially, with input from public feedback and field verification.  The revised constituency map will now be published for public review before final approval.  

These changes will take effect in the next general election, ensuring more equitable voter representation across the country.
