
The Finance Ministry has issued an order granting a house rent allowance of 5 percent of the basic salary (minimum Tk 2,000) to teachers of non-government educational institutions enrolled in the Monthly Pay Order (MPO) scheme.The order, signed by Mitu Moriom, Deputy Secretary of the Finance Division of the ministry, was issued on Sunday morning (October 19).According to the order, considering the government’s current budgetary constraints, the house rent allowance for MPO-listed teachers and staff of non-government institutions has been fixed at 5% of their basic salary, with a minimum of Tk 2,000. The allowance will be effective from November.
The order also outlines certain conditions for the payment of the allowance:
1. The allowance must be adjusted in line with the national pay scale in the future.
2. Employment conditions must comply with relevant government rules, including the “Private Educational Institution (School and College) Teacher-Employee MPO Policy-2021,” “Private Educational Institution (Madrasa) Teacher-Employee MPO Policy-2018 (amended up to November 23, 2020),” and “Private Educational Institution (Vocational, Business Management, Agriculture Diploma & Fisheries Diploma) Staffing Structure and MPO Policy-2018,” along with any related notifications, orders, or circulars issued by the government.
3. MPO-listed teachers and staff will not be entitled to any arrears in the event of allowance increases.
4. All financial rules and regulations must be strictly followed when disbursing the allowance.
5. If any irregularity occurs regarding expenses related to this allowance, the authority responsible for payment will be held accountable.
