
Bangladesh’s dengue crisis continues to deepen as the number of infections has crossed 60,000 this year. According to the latest report from the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), a total of 60,791 dengue cases have been recorded since January. In the 24-hour period between Sunday 8 a.m. and Monday 8 a.m., 942 new dengue patients were admitted to hospitals across the country. During the same time, four more people lost their lives to the mosquito-borne disease, raising the total number of dengue-related deaths in 2025 to 249.
The DGHS’s daily bulletin, released Monday afternoon, revealed that the latest fatalities included two individuals from the Rajshahi division, one from Mymensingh division, and one from Dhaka South City.
Health experts have warned that if the current weather conditions continue and the spread of Aedes mosquitoes is not effectively controlled, the situation could deteriorate further. The public has been urged to take mosquito-control measures seriously and remain vigilant.
According to DGHS statistics, September saw the highest number of dengue-related deaths this year, with 76 fatalities. The breakdown of deaths by month is as follows:
