
BNP Standing Committee Member Salahuddin Ahmed has said that all parties have signed the July Charter, while expressing hope that those who have not yet done so will eventually join. “The charter remains open for all to sign,” he added.He made the remarks on Friday (October 17) evening while speaking to journalists after the signing of the July National Charter, described as a symbol of national consensus.Salahuddin Ahmed said, “The signing of the July Charter marks a historic milestone for Bangladesh. It embodies the sacrifices of the martyrs, their blood, and the nation’s aspirations and popular expectations. Today marks the beginning of a new chapter for our nation.”
He further stated, “Through the implementation of this charter, we will be able to establish a democratic and constitutionally reformed state structure. This framework will lead to the beginning of a new Bangladesh — one where strong democratic and constitutional institutions will flourish and balance will be maintained across all sectors of the state.”
On the issue of elections, Salahuddin Ahmed said, “The Constitution clearly defines how elections are to be held. There is no room for confusion in this matter. However, if the Chief Adviser wishes to hold discussions on the electoral process, the BNP will certainly take part in those discussions.”
