Workers Must Be Ready to Make Sacrifices for Justice: Jamaat Ameer

Dr. Shafiqur Rahman, Ameer of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, has stated that to free the country and nation from Awami fascist misrule and oppression, the student community along with the nation’s workers have shed fresh blood on the streets. “Therefore, workers must be prepared to make the highest sacrifices in the struggle to establish justice and fairness,” he said.He made the remarks on Friday (October 17) at a workers’ gathering organized by Jamaat-e-Islami for the Dhaka-15 constituency, held at Senpara Porbota Eidgah ground in Mirpur-10, Dhaka. The event was chaired by Abdur Rahman Musa, Central Working Committee member and Naib Ameer of Dhaka Metropolitan North, and conducted by Shah Alam Tuhin, Secretary of Dhaka-15 constituency and Ameer of Mirpur East Police Station.

Special guests included Mohammad Selim Uddin, Executive Council member and Ameer of Dhaka Metropolitan North, Laskar Mohammad Taslim, Central Vice-President of Bangladesh Workers Welfare Federation, and Maulana Muhibbullah, Executive Council member of Dhaka Metropolitan North and President of Dhaka Metropolitan North branch of the Workers Welfare Federation.

Dr. Shafiqur Rahman said, “The August revolution did not happen spontaneously; it required numerous sacrifices. It was the united movement of students, youth, and workers that forced the despotic Sheikh Hasina to flee abroad.”

He further stated, “We have a list of one thousand martyrs of the July revolution, 60% of whom were from the working class, while the remaining 40% belonged to other social classes. Most of these workers were from marginalized segments. History bears witness that the working class has always played a leading role during the nation’s critical junctures. Therefore, workers must remain prepared to make any sacrifice to establish a just and fair society.”

The Jamaat Ameer also observed, “Before the July revolution, there was no security for life and property in the country. Corruption, extortion, looting, crime, and oppression prevailed nationwide. Although the fall of fascism raised public hopes, the interim government failed to meet these expectations. Corruption and misrule still persist, and the people continue to be deprived of peace and security. Therefore, positive change is urgently needed.”

He accused, “Jamaat is a victimized organization. During the tenure of the fallen government, Jamaat faced severe persecution. Such oppression against a political opponent has never been seen in the Indian subcontinent, nor in our own country’s history. Ultimately, the fascists banned Jamaat, but that did not protect them; instead, they have now been consigned to the dustbin of history.”

In conclusion, Dr. Shafiqur Rahman called on the working class to remain united in the movement for establishing Din and to continue the struggle on the streets.
