Ensure the Victory of the Balance Symbol by Remaining Uncompromising on the Ground:Selim Uddin

Mohammad Selim Uddin, Member of the Central Executive Council of Jamaat-e-Islami and Ameer of Dhaka Metropolitan North, stated that true welfare and liberation of the people can only be achieved through a just and equitable transformation of Bangladesh's state structure in line with the divine guidance of Allah.Speaking at a student and parent gathering in the Kurmitola Housing Camp area of the capital on Monday, he emphasized that reforming the country’s education, culture, socio-economic system, public administration, judiciary, and parliament in accordance with Islamic principles is essential for building a prosperous and just Bangladesh.

Call for Unity Against Corruption and Injustice

Selim Uddin blamed dishonest individuals and politically ambitious groups for destroying the country's peace and stability. “These groups have amassed immense wealth through unbridled corruption, looting, extortion, and manipulation of tenders. While the majority of the population lives below the poverty line, these people live lives of luxury and extravagance,” he said.

He stressed the need for positive change to free the nation from the grip of this corrupt circle and called upon the public to unite in the field to establish a corruption-free, just society.

Rejecting Social Inequality

Criticizing the stark inequalities in society, he said, “All citizens are equal under the law and constitution. Yet, in this country, some live under the open sky or in slums, while others indulge in lavish palaces. This is not the Bangladesh we envision.”

He further alleged that self-serving groups often set fire to slums, displacing poor residents only to later return with aid and rehabilitation efforts for political gain. “This hypocrisy and double standard are major obstacles to restoring good governance and peace in the country,” he noted.

A Vision for a Just and Equitable Bangladesh

Highlighting the vision of Jamaat-e-Islami, Selim Uddin said, “We want to build a Bangladesh where every citizen enjoys equal rights and dignity. No one should live in slums. Rather, the state will construct large buildings to provide respectful rehabilitation for the underprivileged.”

He urged voters to support Jamaat-e-Islami candidates in the upcoming election to realize this vision of a welfare state based on justice and equality.

People Demand Change, Not False Promises

He noted that the people of Bangladesh no longer want to return to the era of misrule, autocracy, and oppression. “After independence, the people have seen only plunder and tyranny in the name of good governance and development. They now demand real change,” he said.

“The voters do not want to be deceived again by voting for old symbols. They now realize that the past rulers changed their own fortunes instead of the people’s. That’s why there is now a rising wave of public support for the ‘Balance’ (Daripalla) symbol, and a growing commitment to build a new Bangladesh.”

Uncompromising Struggle for a Corruption-Free Nation

Selim Uddin called upon the people to remain firm and uncompromising on the ground to ensure the victory of the ‘Balance’ symbol and to establish a society free from hunger, poverty, corruption, bribery, and discrimination.
