Saifur Rahman, currently serving as an Additional Chief Engineer of the Public Works Department (PWD) and heading the Khulna Zone, has come under allegations of political affiliation with the Awami League during the previous government, close ties with influential contractors G.K. Shamim and Golden Monir, and the accumulation of substantial wealth through alleged irregularities and corruption.
According to several sources familiar with the matter, Saifur Rahman allegedly accumulated significant assets through undisclosed contracting interests and irregular practices while holding important positions in the government. However, the allegations require independent verification.
During his tenure as Executive Engineer of the Azimpur PWD Division and later as Superintending Engineer of the Bogura PWD Circle, Saifur allegedly developed a network of influential contractors. Several contractors have alleged that a contractor “syndicate” became active during his tenure in the Azimpur division. They claimed that obtaining approvals or signatures on various official files was difficult without paying a specified commission. These allegations, however, have not yet been independently verified.
Sources further alleged that Saifur accumulated substantial wealth through irregularities involving the use of government allocations during his tenure in Azimpur. According to the sources, he currently owns assets worth more than Tk 500 million
