Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami’s Naib Amir Syed Abdullah Mohammad Taher has accused several advisers of the caretaker government of conspiring on behalf of a particular political party.He made the allegations on Tuesday (October 14) during a human chain organized by Jamaat’s Dhaka Metropolitan South branch in front of the Matsya Bhaban in the capital.Taher stated that to ensure a free and fair election, the administration and advisers must operate in a non-partisan environment. “However, it is evident that some advisers are working for a specific party. We have a list and records of those involved in the conspiracy,” he added.

He also alleged that current appointments of DCs, SPs, and UNOs are being made with bias to favor a particular group. “These appointments are being manipulated by some government advisers who claim to be neutral but are effectively working for a party,” Taher said.

Taher stressed that these conspiracies must be stopped to ensure a fair election. “If party influence and covert support exist within the administration, the election’s credibility will be questioned. The people will not accept any theatrical moves under the pretext of elections,” he warned.

Reiterating Jamaat’s call for a referendum, he said, “A referendum must be held before the national parliamentary election to clearly reflect the people’s will and reality. With transparency, a referendum can be conducted within 21 days.”

Addressing negative propaganda against Jamaat, Taher said, “Jamaat does not engage in usurpation or extortion. We conduct politics for the people. If we come to power, we will withdraw farmers’ loan cases. We demand fair and just trials, not arbitrary justice.”

He also urged the government to respect public demands, conduct a referendum, implement the PR system, and bring those involved in killings and enforced disappearances to justice.
