"Everyone knows Feni's past history in elections. If there is a fair election, InshaAllah, BNP will win here. Our party leader (Khaleda Zia) will also vote. She is healthy now. There are no worries in Feni about the election."BNP Vice Chairman Abdul Awal Mintu made these remarks in response to a question from journalists while participating in a program at a convention hall in Feni town on Wednesday (July 30) afternoon.Abdul Awal Mintoo said, "The interim government issued a joint statement after talking to our acting chairman in London. We want to be confident that the elections will be held in the first week of February. However, considering the current situation in the country, the elections may be held earlier."It might even happen in January because there is a case pending in the Supreme Court regarding the caretaker government. He said, "If the caretaker government is reinstated, then this interim government will be the caretaker government. The caretaker government has said that elections will be held within 90 days."Stating that the government will not do good work if it is not accountable to the people, Abdul Awal Mintu said, "For the past 19 years, we have been enduring movements, struggles, oppression and torture."If someone says we are suddenly demanding elections, it is not correct. Rather, we have been demanding elections since 2006. If the government of a country is not accountable to the people, they will never do good work. That is why we want elections to be held.
