With the theme, "Realizing the Hopes and Aspirations of Youth to Build a Better Tomorrow," World Population Day was observed in Rajapur Upazila of Jhalokati through a series of events. To mark the occasion, a colorful discussion meeting was held, followed by an award and certificate distribution ceremony recognizing the best field-level workers.
The event took place on the afternoon of 12 July at the Rajapur Upazila Parishad Auditorium and was jointly organized by the Rajapur Upazila Administration and the Upazila Family Planning Office.
Distinguished Guests
The chief guest was Md. Shamim Reza Sajib, Assistant Commissioner (Land), Rajapur Upazila. The special guest was Dr. Abul Khair Mahmud, Upazila Health and Family Planning Officer.
The program was chaired by Ms. Afsana Arefin, Upazila Family Planning Officer.

Call for Transforming Population into Human Capital
During the discussion, the speakers emphasized that alongside population control, Bangladesh must focus on transforming its population into a skilled and productive workforce to support sustainable national development. They highlighted that planned families, safe motherhood, and quality maternal and child healthcare services are essential for building a healthy and prosperous nation.
The speakers also stressed that by raising awareness and developing the skills of the younger generation, the country's population can become a valuable asset rather than a burden. They further called on health workers to play a more active role in promoting women's empowerment and preventing child marriage.
Recognition of Outstanding Field Workers
At the end of the program, the guests presented crests and certificates of appreciation to the best field workers and supervisors in recognition of their outstanding contributions to family planning and maternal and child healthcare services.
The award recipients expressed their gratitude for the recognition and pledged to further improve the quality of their services in the future.
The event concluded successfully with the enthusiastic participation of all attendees, reaffirming the collective commitment to building a healthier, more informed, and prosperous society.
