An emergency meeting of leaders who were excluded from the newly announced committee of the Bangladesh Jatiyatabadi Jubo Dal was held on Tuesday, 7 July 2026, at the Metro Lounge Restaurant adjacent to the National Press Club in Dhaka. The meeting focused on the recently announced central committee, the organization's current situation, and its future course of action. According to meeting sources, the participating leaders decided to seek a meeting with BNP Acting Chairman and organizational guardian of Jubo Dal, Tarique Rahman, at the earliest opportunity. During the meeting, they plan to request the inclusion in the central committee of leaders who played active roles in the movement against the Sheikh Hasina government, proved themselves on the streets, made significant sacrifices, and endured attacks, politically motivated cases, and imprisonment. They also intend to present information and statistics regarding what they described as irregularities, a lack of transparency, and unethical practices in the formation of the newly announced committee.
The leaders alleged that the announcement of the new committee has intensified internal divisions and factionalism within the organization. They also said they would inform Tarique Rahman about the recent disorder at the Jubo Dal central office. In addition, they decided to draw the attention of the party's top leadership to what they described as the organizationally inappropriate, inconsistent, and rude behavior of a senior Jubo Dal leader toward grassroots activists over an extended period.
According to the deprived leaders, during the organizational meeting of the newly formed committee held at the Jubo Dal central office on 5 July 2026, a heated exchange took place between the President and the General Secretary over responsibility for appointing individuals whom they described as unqualified, politically inactive for a long period, and controversial. They expressed deep disappointment over the incident, saying it had damaged the organization's image.
The meeting also discussed the experiences of divisional committee members during recent district visits. According to the speakers, grassroots leaders and activists in several districts did not extend the expected level of cooperation or respect to the visiting teams. They further claimed that in some districts, grassroots members openly expressed resentment toward leaders whom they considered controversial. The participants described these developments as both unfortunate and alarming for the organization.
The leaders argued that allegations of irregularities in the committee formation process, along with the lack of acceptance of the newly appointed committee among grassroots activists, have harmed the reputation of Bangladesh Jatiyatabadi Jubo Dal, one of the country's prominent political youth organizations. They therefore demanded the immediate inclusion of dedicated and proven leaders who had been left out of the committee and called for the removal of controversial appointees through a reconstitution of the committee.
Participants also stated that the exclusion of many long-serving and committed leaders from the newly announced committee has created frustration and dissatisfaction among grassroots activists. They emphasized that maintaining unity, discipline, and organizational strength requires proper recognition of experienced, dedicated, and widely accepted leaders.
The meeting was attended by former leaders of Jubo Dal and Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal from various levels of the organization, including Rafiqul Islam Rafiq, Md. Humayun Kabir, Sajjad Hossain Uzzal, Zakir Hossain Khan, Rion Talukder, Dewan Ali Uddin Sumon, Abul Hasan, Khalid Mahmud Masud, Mahfuzur Rahman, Mizanur Rahman Sohag, Amanullah Bipul, Asadul Haque Titu, Golam Faruk, Selim Hossain Munna Akand, Basedur Rahman Sohel, Mizanur Rahman Molla, Mizanur Rahman Khan, Kazi Mezbaul Alam, Mujahidul Islam, Mohammad Arif, Anwar Zahid, Masud Sarkar, Sumon Chowdhury, Sabur Khan Sagar, Miraj Azim, Swapan Mondal, Majedul Islam Masum, Khandaker Aminul Haque Kakon, Nazrul Islam Nahid, Farid Khan, Mohibullah Joy, Khalilur Rahman Jony, Sharif Al Farhad Dipu, Robiul Hasan Arif, Fazlul Haque Nirab, Rakibul Islam Rokon, Jahangir Alam, Yakub Raju, Shafiul Azam, Biswajit Bhadra, M.
