A delegation from the World Bank held a meeting with Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Dr. Shafiqur Rahman on Tuesday (18 November) morning.The meeting took place in a cordial and friendly atmosphere at the Jamaat Ameer’s office in Bashundhara.

The delegation was led by Mr. Jean Denis Pesme, Director of the World Bank’s Dhaka Regional Office. He was accompanied by Ms. Mehrin A. Mahbub, Economic Adviser for the Dhaka Division, and Ms. Gaelle Martin, Operations Manager.Participating in the meeting from the Jamaat side were noted economist Dr. Mizanur Rahman, former Senior Secretary Muhammad Safiullah, and the Ameer’s Foreign Affairs Adviser Professor Dr. Mahmudul Hasan. During the discussion, both sides exchanged views on infrastructural reforms and development in various financial sectors of Bangladesh, sustainable economic practices, the taxation system, and issues related to the social sector.
