Labour Party Expresses Gratitude Following Death Sentences of Hasina and Kamal

Bangladesh Labour Party Chairman Dr. Mostafizur Rahman Iran has described the International Crimes Tribunal’s verdict—sentencing former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and former Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal to death for crimes against humanity during the July student-citizen uprising—as “a triumph of justice, an expression of gratitude, and a historic milestone.”This statement was issued on Tuesday in a press release signed by the party’s Publicity Secretary Md. Monir Hossain Khan.Dr. Iran said that the Tribunal’s judgment represents “full and formal recognition of the atrocities committed through state forces during the July movement.” According to him, the verdict is not only against two individuals but stands as “a landmark judicial precedent against authoritarianism, fascism, abuse of power, and acts of treachery against the state.”

Expressing gratitude to the Almighty, Dr. Iran stated that the sacrifices of Bangladesh’s oppressed, victims of killings, and families of the disappeared had not been in vain. “Hundreds of martyrs, including Auwal Mia and Nayeem Hawlader, have finally received justice—this is the long-awaited victory of the nation,” he said.

He further added that the verdict proves no autocratic ruler can remain in power by spilling the blood of the people. “Justice may be delayed, but it can never be denied. The unity, sacrifice, and moral strength of the masses have paved the way for this historic judgment.”

Calling upon citizens to remain calm and orderly, the Labour Party chairman stressed the need to transform this judicial victory into momentum for “rebuilding the state, restoring democracy, and establishing a just, equitable society.”

Dr. Iran also extended congratulations to the International Crimes Tribunal, stating that its courageous and impartial role “will be remembered in the nation’s history in golden letters.” Press Release
