BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi has said that the party still has confidence in the interim government led by Dr. Muhammad Yunus. “We still place our trust in Dr. Yunus’ government. No part of the interim administration has the authority to undermine the people’s trust,” he told reporters.Rizvi made these remarks while speaking to the media in Boro Bighai Union of Patuakhali Sadar upazila, where he had gone to assist an elderly destitute couple.Criticizing former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, Rizvi said, “The agreement she signed with India’s private company Adani was not in Bangladesh’s interest—rather, it served the interests of that company. As a result, the country’s sovereignty and national interests have been harmed.”
He further emphasized that national interests must be safeguarded in all agreements and investments involving foreign entities. “No agreement should be signed that undermines the country’s independence, security, or strategic interests. If key infrastructure, including ports, gradually goes under foreign operators’ control, it will raise serious concerns about our national security and sovereignty,” he added.
Rizvi urged Dr. Yunus to take these issues seriously:
“Dr. Yunus must consider these matters carefully. Decisions taken against the country’s interests and the people’s expectations have caused widespread frustration. Such agreements are harmful to Bangladesh.”
Among those present were Patuakhali District BNP President Snehanshu Sarkar Kutti, General Secretary Advocate Mujibur Rahman Toton, and Amra BNP Paribar Member Secretary Atikur Rahman Ruman, along with other party leaders and activists.
