“A False Report Can Mislead the Nation and Society”: Rizvi

BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi has alleged that blaming the BNP for any untoward incident in the country has become a habit for some quarters.Speaking to journalists at the party’s central office in Naya Paltan on Saturday (November 1) afternoon, Rizvi made the remarks. He said, “BNP leaders and activists are not involved in any anti-social or anti-state activities. If anyone commits a crime using BNP’s name, they will not be spared. I urge the media to publish truthful and objective news. A false report can create confusion and division in the state and society.”Rizvi added, “It seems to have become a pattern that whenever something happens, BNP is automatically blamed. Those involved in criminal or anti-social activities must be brought under the law. Why is the government not taking action? Rather, there appears to be a lax attitude on their part.”

Referring to a recent incident in Raozan, Rizvi said, “Some armed criminals were arrested there, yet a few media outlets claimed they were BNP men. Publishing such reports without evidence is regrettable. In Raozan and elsewhere, the party has already taken organizational action against several senior leaders based on various allegations.”

Highlighting BNP’s long struggle, he said, “For the past 15 years, BNP has been fighting against oppression and injustice. The movement reached its peak during July and August. People may feel a bit of relief now, but they are still not free from fear. The law and order situation has not visibly improved.”

He continued, “Those who are artificially creating crises in the essential commodities market are not being held accountable. When the price of wheat has dropped in the global market, it has risen in Bangladesh. Ensuring public safety is the government’s responsibility. If the state fails to do so, social unrest and instability may follow.”

BNP Joint Secretary General Abdus Salam Azad, Assistant Organizing Secretary Aminul Islam, and central leader Bazlul Karim Chowdhury Abed were also present at the briefing.
