According to party sources, a total of 15 physicians feature in the final list of electoral candidates announced by Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami. The party has already instructed its candidates to begin groundwork for the upcoming national parliamentary elections.The list includes both the party’s Ameer (chief) and Naib-e-Ameer (deputy chief) — along with 13 other senior physicians who are members of the National Doctors Forum (NDF).

Dr. A.K.M. Fazlul Haque (Chattogram-9: Chandgaon & Double Mooring),
Dr. Abu Bakar Siddique (Manikganj-1: Ghior, Daulatpur & Shibaloy),
Dr. Faridul Alam (Chattogram-12: Patiya),
Dr. Shahadat Hossain (Chattogram-14: Chandanaish & parts of Satkania),
Dr. Mosleh Uddin Farid (Jashore-2: Chougachha–Jhikargachha),
Dr. Muhammad Abu Naser (Chattogram-8: Boalkhali, Chandgaon & part of Panchlaish),

Homeopathic physician Fakhruddin Manik (Feni-3: Daganbhuiyan–Sonagazi).
Jamaat Ameer Dr. Shafiqur Rahman, originally from Moulvibazar, graduated in MBBS from Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College. Alongside his medical profession, he has long been active in politics. He was first elected Ameer of the party in 2022 and re-elected for a second term in 2025.
Naib-e-Ameer Dr. Syed Abdullah Mohammad Taher, a resident of Chauddagram in Cumilla, completed his MBBS from Dhaka Medical College. A former president of the Islami Chhatra Shibir during the 1980s, he also served as a Member of Parliament in the 8th National Parliament.
Among other notable physician candidates, Dr. S.M. Khaliduzzaman, contesting from Dhaka-17, is a well-known name in his constituency and the media. He is the Chairman and Consultant of Bangladesh Fertility Hospital.
The inclusion of a large number of doctors in Jamaat’s candidate list is being viewed as part of the party’s strategy to bring professionals and technocrats to the forefront of its political activities. Party policymakers have said they are emphasizing the participation of professional groups in the upcoming elections to strengthen the party’s image and appeal.
