Chief Adviser’s Press Secretary Shafiqul Alam has said that the national election will be held in the first half of February. “The Chief Adviser and all members of the Advisory Council are working on election preparations. There is no uncertainty regarding the polls,” he stated. He made the remarks on Saturday (November 8) while speaking at a discussion held at Hotel InterContinental in Dhaka.Speaking about the referendum issue, Shafiqul Alam said, “If the political parties fail to make a decision, then the interim government will take the decision. Many have said that during the formulation of the July Charter, there was no consultation with farmers, women, or workers. But do political parties not represent these people?”
He further said, “All necessary issues have been addressed in the July Charter. If required, further dialogues can be held after the election.”
Commenting on Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, the press secretary said, “Sheikh Hasina has labeled 180 million people as terrorists. Does that mean the entire nation is made up of terrorists? Will she return to power by killing everyone? I believe all political parties must now make a clear decision regarding Sheikh Hasina and the Awami League.”
