As all major political parties are busy preparing for the upcoming national parliamentary election, the Jatiya Party remains in a state of uncertainty over its participation. Despite the uncertainty, the party has quietly begun the process of selecting candidates and making electoral preparations. Once it receives the “green signal,” the party plans to officially enter the electoral field. Jatiya Party Secretary General Shamim Haider Patwary stated that if the party contests the election as part of an alliance, it would benefit both sides — increasing the number of seats and votes for the Jatiya Party as well as for its ally.
The Election Commission (EC) is scheduled to begin a series of dialogues with political parties starting Thursday, November 13. However, it is still unclear whether the Jatiya Party will be invited to participate in these talks.
According to the EC, the commission will decide on holding discussions or making electoral decisions regarding the Jatiya Party only after the party resolves its internal disputes. Election Commissioner Anwarul Islam Sarkar said, “They have some internal issues. Once those are settled, the Commission will make a decision.” Source: BBC Bangla
