BNP Senior Joint Secretary Advocate Ruhul Kabir Rizvi Ahmed has commented that the statements made by Jamaat-e-Islami leader Dr. Taher are aligning with those of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.Rizvi made the remarks while delivering his speech as the chief guest at a new member registration and renewal program organized by the Narsingdi district BNP at the Heritage Resort hall in Madhabdi on Wednesday (29 October).
He said,
“A certain political party is trying to catch fish in troubled waters. Those who were part of the movement are now attempting to exploit political opportunities in chaos. Don’t you recognize this party? Surely you do.”
Rizvi further stated,
“One of their leaders, Dr. Taher, has said that the upcoming election may not take place and that first, the July certificate must be passed. Why might the election not occur? Your statement actually aligns with Sheikh Hasina’s remarks! Dr. Taher, as the deputy leader of a political party, how can you make such statements? What does it indicate? Where is this message coming from? The people want to know today.”
Criticizing the previous government, the BNP leader added,
“Sheikh Hasina has destroyed democracy and buried it. People no longer have freedom of speech, and political parties cannot freely hold meetings and rallies. Sheikh Hasina is allegedly attempting to destabilize the country from abroad.”
He also said,
“Those who extort money in society, create fear, and seize riverbanks cannot become BNP members. The doors of BNP are permanently closed for them.”
Rizvi emphasized,
“Respectable citizens, good people, retired officials and employees, teachers, and farmers—all of them can become BNP members. But those who committed killings and caused bloodshed during Hasina’s rule cannot have a place in BNP.”
The program was presided over by Khairul Kabir Khokon, President of Narsingdi District BNP and former DUCSU General Secretary, and conducted by Manjur Elahi, District BNP Secretary.
Several BNP leaders and activists from the district were also present at the event.
