The Bangla Academy has announced the postponement of the Amar Ekushey Book Fair. The decision was confirmed in a circular signed by the Academy’s Director General on Sunday (September 28).According to the statement, the postponement follows a directive issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs on September 21, 2025, which stated that the book fair should be organized after the upcoming national election.

In light of this directive, and based on consultations with the Bangladesh Publishers and Booksellers Association (BAPUS) along with other stakeholders, the previously scheduled dates for the 2026 edition of the book fair have been suspended. The new schedule will be announced later in consultation with publishers and other parties concerned.

Earlier, due to the national election slated for February 2026, the book fair was rescheduled to begin on December 17 this year.
