Cinema Reflects Culture and History: State Minister for Information

State Minister for Information and Broadcasting Yasser Khan Chowdhury has said that Bangladesh Film Archive plays a vital role in preserving the country’s cinematic heritage and history.Describing cinema as a reflection of a nation’s culture, history, and social life, he said that the activities of the Bangladesh Film Archive will be further modernized and made more time-appropriate to ensure the preservation of the country’s audiovisual heritage. He added that the present government is highly committed to preserving culture and heritage. The government is continuing its support for film preservation, digitization, and research-based activities. He also urged the Bangladesh Film Archive to play a more active role in properly preserving and presenting the history and culture of Bangladeshi cinema for future generations.

He made these remarks while speaking as a special guest at the 48th founding anniversary programme of the Bangladesh Film Archive. On the occasion, the Bangladesh Film Archive organized discussions, painting competitions, and cultural programmes in Dhaka.

The event was presided over by Director General of the Bangladesh Film Archive M. Javed Iqbal. Among others present were Information and Broadcasting Ministry Adviser Dr. Zahed Ur Rahman, Secretary Mahbuba Farzana, senior officials of the ministry, filmmakers, artists, researchers, journalists, and cultural activists.

Speakers at the discussion praised the Bangladesh Film Archive for its important role in preserving the country’s film heritage and wished continued success for the institution. Prominent figures from the film and cultural sectors also participated in the programme.
