A widely discussed political party is gradually becoming active once again in the country’s political arena. After a long period of organizational restructuring, strengthening grassroots communication, and rebuilding its internal network, the party has now begun making a visible return to street politics. Party activists have already started organizing small rallies, roadside meetings, and public outreach programs in different districts, upazilas, and police station areas across the country. Political analysts believe these activities are part of the party’s initial preparation for a larger political comeback.
According to multiple party sources, the central policymakers are planning a major show of strength in the capital, Dhaka, between July and August. In preparation for this program, party activists from various districts and local units are reportedly taking positions in Dhaka discreetly. Their primary objective is to strengthen organizational coordination and become fully active at the central level when the appropriate political moment arrives.
Recent small-scale processions and demonstrations taking place in different parts of the country are being viewed as part of the party’s “organizational presence assessment” campaign. Local leaders and activists are carrying out limited programs to evaluate public support and measure their organizational capacity. Political observers say that after remaining largely inactive for a long period, the party’s renewed activities have created fresh discussion in the political landscape.
A responsible party leader, speaking on condition of anonymity, said the organization is currently moving forward in a highly strategic and planned manner under instructions from the central leadership.
“The party is now focusing on strengthening its organizational foundation rather than engaging in direct confrontation. Once a favorable situation emerges, we will move toward larger political programs,” he said.
He further claimed that organizational communication has already been intensified in several important districts across the country. In addition to political activists, efforts are underway to mobilize leaders from student, youth, labor, and professional organizations. Party and agency sources also claim that a section of retired administrative officials, former military officers, and retired members of law enforcement agencies are working behind the scenes.
Several internal sources within the party stated that their current priority is to restore organizational unity and reactivate grassroots workers. Having remained politically marginalized for years due to various reasons, the party has now adopted a gradual strategy to reclaim political space. To support this effort, a special central coordination team has reportedly been formed to maintain regular communication with party units nationwide.
Political analysts believe the party is attempting to reorganize itself in response to the country’s current political environment. According to them, the party is testing its organizational strength through small-scale programs before moving toward major political action. At the same time, it is also closely monitoring public sentiment and the law-and-order situation.
Several party leaders have indicated that although the organization is currently avoiding open confrontation, it intends to move toward larger political programs in the future. They suggested that if military deployment or heightened security measures in the field are relaxed, the party would become more active publicly. However, the central leadership has not made any official statement regarding the matter.
A former student leader currently involved in the party’s organizational activities said:
“We are now preparing ourselves organizationally. Instead of suddenly launching a major movement, we have adopted a step-by-step strategy. Restoring the morale of activists and strengthening communication with ordinary people are our main priorities at this stage.”
Sources further revealed that the party plans to create a major anti-government political issue within the next one and a half to two years in order to intensify demands for a new election. Party strategists believe that continuous political programs and organizational pressure could eventually place the government under significant pressure. With this objective in mind, the party is restructuring its organizational framework from the grassroots to the central level.
The developments have already sparked widespread discussion within political circles. Leaders of the ruling party are reportedly monitoring the situation closely. However, several ruling party leaders have dismissed the significance of the activities, arguing that “small isolated rallies cannot bring major political change.” On the other hand, many within opposition political circles believe that the party’s gradual return to the field after a long absence could create new political equations in the future.
Political analysts emphasize that in the country’s current political reality, any party seeking long-term relevance must possess a strong organizational base. From that perspective, they view the party’s recent activities as part of a long-term political strategy. In particular, strengthening grassroots communication, organizational restructuring, and coordination with various professional groups may lay the foundation for larger political programs in the future.
Meanwhile, law enforcement agencies are also reportedly monitoring the situation surrounding the possible large-scale showdown in Dhaka. Intelligence agencies are said to be closely observing the party’s organizational activities and communication networks at the field level. However, no official statement has yet been made by the government regarding the matter.
Overall, it remains uncertain what impact the renewed activism of this political party will ultimately have on the country’s political landscape. Nevertheless, analysts believe that the indications of larger political preparations through small-scale activities could generate new discussions and political realignments in the days ahead.
