Barristar Zaima Rahman, daughter of BNP Chairman Tarique Rahman, on Saturday sought support for the party’s "Sheaf of Paddy" symbol ahead of the 12 February national election. She actively campaigned across Gulshan, personally engaging with voters, distributing leaflets, and urging pedestrians, rickshaw pullers, shopkeepers, and office workers to vote for her father.Tarique Rahman is contesting the election from Dhaka-17, a constituency that includes Dhaka’s Cantonment, Gulshan, Banani, Niketan, Mohakhali, Baridhara and Shahjadpur.Starting from Police Plaza in Gulshan at noon, Zaima toured several streets, offices, banks and shopping malls.
Despite heavy security, she interacted directly with the people, drawing enthusiastic crowds who gathered to meet her and take photos, which she gladly accepted.
While distributing leaflets, Zaima said, “I am Zaima Rahman, daughter of Tarique Rahman. My father is contesting the national election from the Dhaka-17 constituency, and I seek your votes on his behalf.”
Fatema Khatun, caregiver of BNP Chairperson late Begum Khaleda Zia, accompanied her during the campaign.
Zaima distributed eco-friendly seed packets, explaining that the initiative aims to reduce election-related waste and promote environmental protection, as the seeds can grow into plants when sown in soil or pots.
