The Bangladeshi community in Australia is abuzz with excitement as legendary Bangla singer and multi-talented artist Runa Laila is set to visit Sydney. The highly anticipated cultural event, titled “Bangladesh Night 2026,” will be held on Saturday, 1 August, at the Norwest International Convention Centre in Sydney. In anticipation of the event, a special community consultation and interaction program was held on the evening of Friday, 6 February, at the Lawson Room of Revesby Workers’ Club. The meeting was attended by community leaders, journalists, and representatives of various social and cultural organisations, along with invited guests from across the Bangladeshi diaspora.
During the session, organisers outlined the aims and vision of Bangladesh Night 2026, provided updates on event preparations, shared ticketing information, and discussed community expectations surrounding the arrival of Runa Laila and other participating artists. Guests’ questions were addressed, sponsors were formally introduced, and various aspects of the event were presented in detail. A promotional video of the program was also screened.
Organisers emphasised that the event is more than a concert; it is a significant cultural initiative aimed at showcasing Bangla music, culture, and heritage to the younger generation growing up in the diaspora. Alongside Runa Laila, popular artists from Coke Studio Bangla are also expected to perform, promising audiences a unique and memorable musical experience.
Speakers at the meeting described Runa Laila’s upcoming visit as a historic and proud cultural moment for expatriate Bangladeshis in Australia. They expressed optimism that Bangladesh Night 2026 would further strengthen the visibility, recognition, and dignity of Bangladeshi culture within Australia’s multicultural landscape.
