Motaleb Bhuiya, an alleged fraudster, has reportedly been using deceptive tactics to present himself as a powerful and influential figure. One of his common strategies involves taking photographs with high-profile individuals across different sectors, including politicians, lawyers, and government officials. He then publishes these images in his own newspaper or circulates them on social media platforms to create the impression that he is well-connected and holds VIP status. By leveraging these images and connections, Bhuiya is said to operate a network of fraudulent activities. In many cases, he allegedly uses his claimed ties and identity linked to his hometown in Noakhali to influence local officials and facilitate the acquisition of targeted properties.
Investigations suggest that prior to the Basakhali Apartment Project under RAJUK, Motaleb Bhuiya had already taken control of several plots in Gulshan through questionable means. These plots were later sold to large business groups, allowing him to accumulate substantial wealth. It is also reported that one of these plots is currently being used as the head office of a major corporate group. Bhuiya is accused of repeatedly exploiting the name of that group to carry out further fraudulent schemes.
His latest alleged target is a 32-katha plot located at CWN (B) 8, Road No. 35, House No. 8, Gulshan-2 Model Town, under the RAJUK Baishakhi Project. Not only is he claiming ownership of the land, but he is also asserting himself as the owner of a 14-story building constructed on the site with RAJUK’s own funding.
When contacted for comment, a phone number listed in the printer’s line of a newspaper edited by Motaleb Bhuiya was used. He answered the call but refused to provide any statement. Instead, he reportedly said, “Write whatever you want,” and abruptly ended the call, citing that he was busy.
