On Sunday (March 29), an unannounced visit by Prime Minister Tarique Rahman to the Secretariat in the morning created significant discussion within administrative circles. Departing from his scheduled routine, the Prime Minister arrived unexpectedly and directly observed the operations of various ministries on-site.
According to relevant sources, he reached the Secretariat premises at approximately 9:05 AM, where he was received by Cabinet Secretary Nasimul Ghani along with other senior government officials. Following a brief exchange of greetings and a short discussion, he proceeded to inspect different buildings of the Secretariat under tight security.
The Prime Minister moved on foot from one building to another, closely examining the overall activities of the ministries. He first visited Building No. 6, which houses around ten ministries. There, he reviewed the operations of the Ministry of Power, Energy and Mineral Resources, as well as the Ministry of Women and Children Affairs. He spoke directly with officials, inquiring about administrative progress, service delivery, and ongoing initiatives.
Subsequently, he visited Building No. 5, where he inspected the Ministry of Housing and Public Works. During this visit, he held discussions with the minister, state minister, and senior officials, seeking updates on various development projects and gaining firsthand insights into their implementation at the field level.
He later proceeded to Building No. 3 to inspect the Ministry of Commerce. There, he discussed the country’s trade situation, market regulation, and ongoing activities. Through direct engagement with officials, he assessed the efficiency and pace of administrative operations.
Throughout the approximately one-hour surprise inspection, the Prime Minister maintained direct communication with ministers, state ministers, and senior officials across the ministries. He gathered detailed information on various aspects of administrative work and provided directives aimed at accelerating operational efficiency.
