Salahuddin Ahmed, a member of the BNP’s Standing Committee, has emphasized that good politics is essential to prevent the resurgence of fascism. He made the remarks on Saturday (6 September) afternoon during a football match organized by Dhaka Metropolitan North and South BNP to mark the party’s 47th founding anniversary. Speaking on the occasion, Salahuddin highlighted BNP’s aim to bring positive changes to the political culture, saying, “We want to introduce a people-friendly political culture. That’s why, on our founding anniversary, BNP is organizing a football match and cleaning drains and canals to alleviate public inconvenience.”
He further stressed, “If we don’t want fascism to rise again, we must initiate good politics and avoid authoritarian attitudes.”
Salahuddin also pointed out that effective reform cannot be achieved solely through legal frameworks or constitutional amendments. “Change must come through psychological transformation and tolerance. A cordial and harmonious environment must be maintained,” he added.
