
The Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) has announced financial assistance of Tk 100,000 for each family of the workers killed in the devastating fire at Mirpur’s Rupnagar area in Dhaka.BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi said that Dhaka North City BNP Convener Aminul Haque would provide the financial support to the families of the deceased. Rizvi made the announcement late Tuesday night while visiting the site of the fire.“This tragic incident is a result of sheer mismanagement,” Rizvi said. “In the future, the BNP will take steps to prevent such tragedies by stopping industrialization in residential areas and ensuring better coordination in urban planning.”
He also prayed for the eternal peace of the departed souls and expressed deep condolences to the bereaved families.
Earlier on Tuesday morning (October 14), a devastating fire broke out at “R.N. Fashion,” a garments factory, and an adjacent chemical warehouse in the Shialbari area of Rupnagar, Mirpur. According to the Fire Service, at least 16 people were killed in the blaze.
Before the BNP’s announcement, the Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami had also declared that it would provide Tk 100,000 to each victim’s family.
