“Are We Burning Corpses in Line with the Prophet’s Teachings?”: Rizvi

Senior Joint Secretary General of the BNP, Ruhul Kabir Rizvi, has expressed concern over divisions within the Muslim community and warned that society is drifting away from the teachings of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).Speaking at a Milad and prayer ceremony organized by the BNP’s central office in Naya Paltan, Dhaka, on Saturday (6 September) to commemorate Eid-e-Milad-un-Nabi (PBUH), Rizvi said, “The Prophet (PBUH) was a symbol of unity, but today we are creating divisions ourselves. We are destroying each other’s graves and even burning corpses—actions that are completely contrary to the Prophet’s ideals.”

He further added, “Today we are divided and in conflict. We are desecrating graves and burning bodies. This is certainly not the teaching of the Prophet.”

Rizvi emphasized that if the unmatched moral principles and exemplary character of the Prophet (PBUH) were followed, injustice, oppression, bloodshed, and violence would be eradicated from the country.

Highlighting the failures of the Muslim community, Rizvi remarked, “The one who represents our ideals is not followed by anyone. This is the greatest failure of our society.”

The Milad ceremony was also attended by BNP Joint Secretary General Khairul Kabir Khokon, Advocate Abdus Salam Azad, and central leader Mir Sharafat Ali Shafu. The prayers were led by Maulana Selim Reza, the convener of the Ulama faction.
