BNP’s Health Affairs Secretary Dr. Md. Rafiqul Islam has alleged that a certain group is conspiring to undermine democratic practice in an attempt to thwart the spirit of the July Movement.Speaking as a special guest at a discussion and award-giving ceremony marking the anniversary of the “July Uprising 2024,” organized by the Bangladesh Jonodhikar Party at the National Press Club on Thursday, Dr. Rafiq said:“Their intentions are different. Just as they opposed the Liberation War, they are now opposing the ultimate goal of the July Movement, which was to establish the people’s right to vote.”Expressing deep frustration over the lack of proper medical treatment for those injured during the July Movement, Dr. Rafiq stated:
“From the very beginning of the student-people’s movement, we were involved under the directives of BNP’s Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman. After holding meetings with like-minded parties, he finalized the strategy for our participation in the July Movement.”

He further emphasized that the roadmap for elections announced by the interim government and the Election Commission must be implemented to permanently eliminate fascism from the country.

The event was also attended by BNP Standing Committee member Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury, BNP Vice Chairman Barkat Ullah Bulu, BNP Assistant Health Affairs Secretary Professor Dr. Md. Nazrul Islam, Dr. Shakhawat Hossain Sayant, and other leaders.
