Stating that Tarique Rahman is fighting to restore democracy, BNP standing committee member Gayeshwar Chandra Roy alleged, "Communal forces and the defeated Awami League are conspiring to rig the election. We must be careful about that."He made the allegation at a prayer ceremony for BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia's birthday in Shahjahanpur, the capital, on Saturday (August 16).Gayeshwar Chandra said, "The government's goodwill regarding the elections is not enough. Political parties also need to have goodwill for fair elections."He said, "New signs are emerging regarding reforms and justice." The senior BNP leader referred to these as an ongoing process.Gayeshwar mentioned that Khaleda Zia was tortured to destroy democracy.
He said, "For 17 long years, everyone in the country has been tortured, but Begum Khaleda Zia has been subjected to inhuman torture.""She has been made homeless. They (Awami League) have not done anything to kill Khaleda Zia bit by bit."Gayeshwar also claimed at the event that if the BNP is elected by the people and forms the government, all the injustices, atrocities, and disappearances and murders of the Awami League era will be brought to justice.
