Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Secretary General and former MP Professor Mia Golam Parwar issued a statement on August 10 calling for celebrating International Youth Day on August 12 with due dignity.In the statement, he said, "Since 2000, August 12 has been celebrated as International Youth Day. The contribution of youth to national life is undeniable. After the July Uprising, the expectations of the countrymen towards the youth have increased further."History bears witness that major changes in the world have been brought about by the hands of youth. We hope that youth will play a leading role in shaping the future of Bangladesh. Therefore, a beautiful and conducive environment must be ensured for the development of youth power to build a healthy nation.I urge all the branch organizations of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami to celebrate International Youth Day with due dignity on August 12 through various programs including discussion meetings, youth rallies, seminars and symposiums.
