Jamaat-e-Islami has no objection to the February elections. However, the party will seek votes in the upper and lower houses of parliament through the PR method, said Jamaat-e-Islami Naib-e-Ameer Dr. Syed Abdullah Muhammad Taher. He made this statement to reporters at the Election Building after meeting with Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) AMM Nasir Uddin on Sunday (August 10).The Nayeb-e-Ameer of Jamaat-e-Islami said, "We have no objection to the election date that has been announced for February. Jamaat-e-Islami welcomes the election to be held in the first half of February."Dr. Taher said, "The demands of Jamaat are very clear, we definitely want elections. We want to participate in the elections. But we want to consider the condition of making the elections fair very seriously here.""That is why the recommendations of the Consensus Commission must be given a legal basis, implemented, and the next election must be held on that basis."The Jamaat leader also said, "We have some additional political demands. One of the portions we have agreed on in parliament is the election to the Upper House through the PR system."But our demand is both the Upper House and Lower House of Parliament. And we will agitate on that issue and we will try to realize it.Earlier, Dr. Syed Abdullah Muhammad Taher met the CEC demanding that the Comilla-11 seat be kept as before.
