Dengue Crisis Deepens,Six More Dead,983 New Admissions

 Six more people have died from dengue fever, which is transmitted by Aedes mosquitoes, across the country in the past 24 hours, while 983 others have been admitted to hospitals, according to official data.With these latest figures, the total number of dengue-related deaths this year has risen to 269, and the number of confirmed cases has reached 66,423, according to a regular dengue update released on Monday (27 October) by the Health Emergency Operation Centre and Control Room of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

According to the DGHS report, among those hospitalised in the past 24 hours, 141 were in Barishal Division111 in Chattogram Division171 in Dhaka Division227 in Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC)133 in Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC)62 in Khulna Division41 in Mymensingh Division78 in Rajshahi Division12 in Rangpur Division, and 7 in Sylhet Division.

Of the six deaths reported during this period, four occurred in DNCCone in DSCC, and one in Barishal Division.

Meanwhile, 970 dengue patients were discharged from hospitals in the past 24 hours. So far this year, 63,414 patients have recovered and been discharged after receiving treatment.

In 2024, a total of 101,214 people were infected with dengue in the country, resulting in 575 deaths. In comparison, 2023 saw 1,705 dengue-related deaths and 321,179 hospitalisations, marking one of the deadliest dengue outbreaks in Bangladesh’s history.
